Launched in 2001, the .NAME generic TLD is the sole TLD intended for personal websites only. These domain names can consist of personal or fictional names, nicknames and/or other labels people are famous by. At first, solely third-level registrations were possible, so if you wished to secure john.doe.name, you had to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration procedures were liberalized and 2nd-level registrations were also allowed. Already acquired third-level names remained running.

You will be able to update the WHOIS information, to park your domain, to set up Custom DNS records, etc. You can also transfer an existing domain to our company if you obtain its EPP transfer authorization key from the current registration service provider and we will renew it after the transfer has been completed. There are no specific requirements on who can obtain a dot NAME domain name, but in order to maintain the objective behind its creation alive, the Registry organization may verify who the Registrant is and if there is no relation between the owner and the actual domain, the registration might be challenged.
